A driver stopped his car and threw a lighted cigarette into another motorist's window.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the apparently unprovoked incident, which happened in Hamstreet at 4.15pm on Tuesday last week.

A 57-year-old woman was driving her car down Birchett Lane when a dark coloured 4x4 drove up behind her.

As this is a narrow lane, she pulled over to allow the vehicle to pass, which it did and then pulled up in front of her car.

The driver walked over to her vehicle and dropped a lighted cigarette into the back of her car through an open rear window, and returned to his car without saying a word.

The rear seat received minor damage estimated at £30.

The man is described late 40s, 5ft 8in tall, of proportionate build, with short mousey hair.

Anyone with information should contact South Kent Police on 01303 289180.
