A cinema giant which has chains across Kent has delayed its reopening date.

Cineworld previously announced it planned to begin screenings from July 10 having been closed amid lockdown.

But bosses at the company - which has three cinemas across the county in Rochester, Ashford and Dover - have now said it will open at the end of July.

A spokesperson said: "In line with recent adjustments to the schedule of upcoming movie releases, Cineworld will re-open its cinemas in the UK starting Friday July 31, subject to final clarifications and confirmation in relation to government Covid-19 restrictions."

Social distancing measures will be put in place across all areas within its cinemas, with an updated booking system that allows friends and family to sit together while ensuring a safe distance between customers from different households.

Film start and end times will also be staggered to reduce crowds in foyers and corridors, while additional cleaning will be carried out between films.

All employees will be receiving specific Covid-19 training and personal protective equipment will be also provided to cinema staff where a risk assessment has deemed it necessary.
