Chief Constable Mike Fuller

Michael Fuller, the Chief Constable of Kent, has voluntarily referred the Liberal Democrats' document on the Kingsnorth Climate Camp protests to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

Mr Fuller said: "This document makes a number of allegations. Kent Police's policy has always been to be open and transparent in everything we do and this will be no different.

"If we find officers have failed to meet the very high standards we expect then we will act.

"There will be no further comment from Kent Police until we have heard from the IPCC."

Mr Fuller will meet with the IPCC next week to discuss the issue.

According to the Lib Dem report, playing loud music was one of the tactics used by officers to combat the environmental protesters in Hoo last August.
