Country park closed because of icy conditions

Dog walkers and ramblers planning a winter stroll through Capstone Farm Country Park today will be disappointed.

A decision to close the park, in Capstone Road, Chatham, was taken this morning because park rangers felt the icy conditions in the car park were too dangerous.

A Medway Council spokesman said it was hoped the park would re-open tomorrow.

Meanwhile, one school in the Towns remained closed today because of the weather conditions.

The Kingfisher Primary School, in Kingfisher Drive, Princes Park, Walderslade, will stay closed because of the icy conditions in the playground and surrounding areas.

Pupils at the Howard School in Derwent Way, Rainham, also go a lie-in this morning. Classes school did not start until 11am to allow both students and staff extra time to get to the site.
