Four teams of fire fighters were called to a block of flats for the elderly in Littlebourne in the early hours of this morning.

The alarm was raised at Ellen Court in Nargate Street, at about 5.30am after fire broke out in resident's bedroom.

The blaze was contained to the room and the building was not evacuated.

The room was badly damaged but nobody was hurt.
