More than 100 people have signed a petition asking why an area of grass was not cut for four years.

A meeting is being held at Allington Baptist Church, on Tuesday, from 6.30pm, to discuss the matter.

The petition, from residents of Corben Close and Beaver Road, asks Maidstone council to explain why grass at a play area in Corben Close has not been cut since 2004.

Thanks to the intervention of council leader Cllr Chris Garland(Con), the area has now been mowed, but the meeting of Maidstone council’s regeneration and sustainable communities overview and scrutiny committee will discuss the wider issues surrounding grass-cutting agreements.

The meeting is open to the public and residents will have the opportunity to speak on their petition.

The leader and the cabinet member for regeneration will be there along with council officers to address concerns.
