The accident happened about half a mile from the Brenley Corner roundabout at around 12.40pm Saturday.

A police spokesman said the 51-year-old victim appeared to lose control of her grey Raleigh bike and fall as a saloon car with a roof rack overtook her.

She was then hit by a burgundy-coloured Peugeot 206 following behind.

The woman was airlifted to hospital and is said to be in a stable condition.
