A WOMAN had her handbag snatched by a cyclist as she walked in Clifton Place, Margate.

The 52-year-old victim told police she felt a strap on her handbag being pulled from behind. She turned to see a man riding off on a bike, holding her handbag that contained about £50 and personal items including keys and a birth certificate.

Police say the thief was wearing a dark grey hooded top, black jogging bottoms and white shoes.

Witnesses to the theft, which happened at about 5pm on Saturday, are asked to telephone the CID unit at Margate Police Station on 01843 222192.
