A YOUNG man whose wife is expecting their first child collapsed during a five-a-side football match and later died.

Adrian Bourne, aged 29, who came from Rainham, was in goal for Agathoid Rovers in a Medway Towns Red Triangle Five-A-Side League fixture in Rochester when he suddenly keeled over.

Initial reports suggest he died of an aneurism on his way to hospital by ambulance. The tragedy happened on Tuesday last week.

League secretary Geoff Ford said: “We were just 16 minutes into the match when he appeared to just go down. I got the impression that some of his fellow players thought he was joking at first, and told him to get up. We quickly realised it was serious."
