The KM Group's editorial apprentice is set to meet Prime Minister David Cameron in London today when he swaps the office for Number 10.

Dan Wright, 19, is traveling to the capital to join apprentices from across the country for a special Downing Street reception to mark National Apprenticeship Week.

The Ashford teenager joined the KM Group after finishing sixth-form last year and has been an integral part of the company's Kick Start Kent campaign, which aims to get 100 companies to take on an apprentice this year.

Since starting last September, he has worked in two different offices - writing for press, online and radio while covering a wide range of subjects.

Once a week, he attends a college course run by the National Council for the Training of Journalists to gain an industry-recognised journalism diploma.

On being invited to meet the Prime Minister, Dan said: "It's brilliant that apprenticeships are getting the recognition they deserve and to meet David Cameron will be a pretty surreal experience.

"I've enjoyed every minute of my KM Group apprenticeship since starting last year - it's a great company to learn in and I don't know what I'll be writing about from one day to the next.

"I've met royalty, attended inquests and court cases, interviewed ex-Formula One stars and built up a great variety of stories - who knows what will happen next."
