The dangers faced by Kent's roadworkers every day are being shown in a hard-hitting new DVD launched by the Highways Agency.

It is part of a campaign called Respect Our Road Workers, which asks people to consider the dangerous job faced by those who service Kent’s roads.

Between 2003 and 2007 there were 10 road workers killed and 81 seriously injured while working on motorways and major A roads in England.

Highway’s Agency Kent and Sussex Deputy Team Leader Felicity Drewett said: “Any accident to one of our road workers is one accident too many.

“This DVD is telling people the roadworks are our workers' office. You would not expect someone to come into your workplace and injure you.

“These people are doing a job to make the network safer and better for you. All they want is to be able to go home safely to their families at the end of their day just like any other person."
