Drivers caught on camera
at Chatham bus station

Video of drivers speeding through a Kent bus station and
ignoring a pedestrian crossing has been released.

Medway Council posted the footage on its website after revealing
more than 90 vehicles a day are using Chatham bus station as a
dangerous shortcut.

The clips show cars not even slowing down as pedestrians -
including someone pushing a pram - try to use the crossing.

The council said the drivers are causing a danger to the 60,000
bus passengers a week who walk through the station.

The bus station and Waterfront Way, which both opened last
October, have signs and road markings showing they are for buses,
taxis and bicycles only.

Robin Cooper, director of regeneration, community and culture,
said: "We would also ask those that do drive through the bus
station to look at this footage as, hopefully, it will help them
realise that what they are doing is dangerous and that they must
stop."
