David Frost graduates in Medway

Legendary broadcaster Sir David Frost joined hundreds of graduates today, to be presented with an honoury degree.

The former Gillingham schoolboy was awarded a Doctorate of Letters by the University of Kent at Medway, during the university’s annual graduation ceremony at Rochester Cathedral

Sir David, who was born in Tenterden, was a student at Barnsole Primary School and the former Gillingham Grammar School, now Robert Napier.

He said: "I was living in the Medway Towns during a very formative part of my life. It’s great to come back and to be honoured in these beautiful surroundings.”

The television presenter, known most recently for Breakfast with Frost and Through the Keyhole, was one of two honorary graduates this year.

Renowned geographer and social theorist Professor David Harvey was awarded a Doctor of Science during the afternoon ceremony, alongside 200 students from MidKent College.
