Kent is set for severe rainfalls today, with a yellow weather warning slapped on Kent.

Parts of the county could see up to 30mm of rain in the space of just one hour, as the Met Office has placed the warning for a great swathe of the county.

The warning runs from 10am until 6pm tonight, with thunderstorms entering the weather mix.

A spokesman said: "Heavy showers are expected to develop early in the day and will likely turn thundery and locally intense.

"Whilst most places will miss the worst, 20 mm of rain in an hour is likely in places, with a low risk of more than 30 mm locally.

"Lightning could be an additional hazard."
