A THUG beat a terrified dog so badly that it repeatedly screamed with pain.

Passers-by and neighbours who saw and heard the beating called in RSPCA officers, who are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

It happened in Orion Road, Rochester, in the early hours of last Sunday morning.

The animal welfare charity was called in after a man struck his black Staffordshire bull terrier-type dog around the head so severely that it screamed in terror.

The man is described as being in his 30s, of slim build, around 6ft tall with a bald head.

RSPCA Inspector Jo Hirst said: “This poor dog was clearly terrified and in great pain."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RSPCA, in confidence, on 08705 555999.
