Andy Hessenthaler wants his future to be clarified one way or another - and that could become clearer by the end of Wednesday.

The Dover manager is a leading candidate for the vacant Gillingham post and he’s due to meet Whites chairman Jim Parmenter on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the situation.

According to Mr Parmenter the Gills have yet to offer any compensation package should Hessenthaler leave for Priestfield, and he has subsequently denied his counterpart Paul Scally permission to officially speak to the Dover manager, who is contracted for another season.

Hessenthaler (pictured) is hoping the situation is resolved quickly.

He said: "Both clubs need to move on and we need to know what’s going on as there is a lot to sort out."

Hessenthaler is not hiding his desire to manage the Gills, saying: "I would be lying if I said I wasn’t interested. I am interested."

Mr Parmenter, speaking on Wednesday morning said: "The ball is in Paul Scally’s court.

"They haven’t offered any compensation and I’ll be speaking to Andy later today and we’ll see what comes out of that meeting."
