Driver, 74, dies after crashing into fence at Wingham

A 74-year-old man has died after his car crashed into a fence.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the accident in Preston Road, Wingham on Wednesday morning.

At around 10.10am a red Vauxhall Agila heading towards Wingham came off the road and hit a fence. No other vehicles were involved.

The driver was taken to the QEQM Hospital in Margate, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The road was closed for four hours while officers carried out an investigation and the car was recovered.
