Elderly pedestrian killed in road crash

An elderly man died today after being struck by a car in a Kent village.

The crash happened at around 9.25am in Meopham. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene in South Street, close to Culverstone Green.

The driver of the car was not hurt.

The road was closed for around four hours while forensic and collision investigators examined the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They would particularly like to speak to the driver of a lorry travelling towards Gravesend.
