This is the scene after an ambulance overturned near Pembury Hospital yesterday.

The emergency vehicle is believed to have been responding to a 999 call when it flipped on Tonbridge Road after colliding with another vehicle.

The crash happened at the junction of the A228 Pembury Northern Bypass at about 3pm.

Kent Police cars and other ambulances were called to the scene.

No patients were on board and neither ambulance crew members nor the occupants of the other vehicle suffered serious injuries.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said: "The ambulance was not carrying any patients.

"It was en route to another incident in the area at which SECAmb was already on the scene. Another vehicle was assigned to back up the clinicians already at the scene of this emergency.

"No one required hospital treatment as a result of the RTC. The driver of the other vehicle and the crew were all treated and assessed at the scene for minor injuries.

"RTCs such as this involving our vehicles are thankfully rare, but we take safety extremely seriously and are looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident."
