Faces of heist gang members

THIS is the face of one of the two men who kidnapped the depot manager's family during Wednesday's armed raid at the Securitas premises in Tonbridge.

The man, wearing dark police-style clothing and possibly a wig and false moustache, called at the home of Colin and Lynn Dixon in Herne Bay at around 8pm on Tuesday night.

He and the other man tricked Mrs Dixon into believing they were police and told her Mr Dixon had been involved in an accident.

They then forced her and the couple's then eight-year-old son into a large saloon car, which was then driven to the Faversham area where Mrs Dixon and the child were moved into a red van with Parcelforce markings.

The image shows the man as he looked when he arrived on the Dixons’ doorstep.

The man is described as white, 6ft to 6ft 2in, and possibly between the age of 45 and 49.

He had a sickly, pasty complexion and is of skinny build with a long thin nose, thin lips and bony chin. He spoke with no noticeable accent.

His hair was thick, brown and unkempt, but this could have been a wig. He had a bushy and thick dark brown moustache, but again this may have been fake.

It is the third image released by police following the raid after they earlier issued an computer-generated picture of the man who posed as a police officer to trick Mr Dixon to get into a Volvo car in a layby on the A249 near Stockbury at around 6.30pm on Tuesday.

Mr Dixon was then abducted and forced to help the gang get into the Securitas depot in Vale Road, Tonbridge, to steal the cash.

The gang member who posed as a police officer wore a police style cap and high visibility jacket.

He is described as white, 6ft to 6ft 1in tall, with a scruffy ginger beard that was "wiry and wispy" and could have been false, because distinctively his hair is thought to be a different colour. The man also had freckles on his cheeks and dark eyebrows.

* Kent Police is continuing to appeal to the public for help and is urging anyone who has any information to call the incident room on 01622 652361 or 01622 652366.
