Fatal road crash: Police renew appeal for help

A police investigation is continuing into the death of a 58-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle in Cliftonville on Friday morning (January 30).

The man, thought to be from Margate, suffered multiple injuries in the accident at 11.20am at Eastern Esplanade. He died on his way to the town’s Queen Mother hospital and police have yet to formally release his identity.

A 58-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the incident on Sunday evening has been released on police bail until April 21, pending further inquiries.

Kent Police had appealed for information about a light coloured people carrier that officers believe was involved in the collision. The vehicle has since been traced and seized.
