A 74-year-old man has been found dead in a shed in the back garden of his home in Forge Lane, Headcorn, near Maidstone.

Police say a firearm was discovered close to Alfred Mills's body. He was found by his wife, Margaret. A post mortem examination revealed that Mr Mills died as a result of a head injury.

An inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned by Mid-Kent and Medway coroner Roger Sykes.

Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious and they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
