Floral tributes laid to woman who fell from Carl Ekman house in Northfleet

Floral tributes left outside Carl Ekman House in Gravesend

Floral tributes have been laid at the scene where a woman died after she fell from a seventh floor balcony.

Ambulance crews and police were called to Carl Ekman House in Tooley Street, Northfleet, at about 2.50am on Sunday.

The 36-year-old woman, named locally as Cathy, fell from a seventh floor balcony and had suffered multiple fractures to her legs and arms.

She was taken to Darent Valley Hospital but later died.

Lisa John, 18, who lives at Carl Ekman House, said: "She was a nice person. We will miss her.

"I hope her boyfriend is all right."

Mellissa Webster , 22, who also lives in the building, said: "They were always welcoming and friendly.

"I had spoken to her the day before and it was really nice.

"She had two jack russells. She was always walking her dogs, and she had a baby grandson."

One tribute at the scene said: "I would die 1,000 times kid for you but I could save you once.

"When you died, I died."

Another read: "To Cathy. RIP. Sleep peacefully. Gabby, Jason & boys xxx"
