Flower show exhibit was almost a dog's dinner

A security dog almost put paid to a team of flower arrangers' Chelsea Flower Show dreams of success.
The dog was on the verge of launching itself through Natures Kaleidoscope - the 20ft square by 16ft high structure produced by the Kent area team of the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies - but was thwarted by his handler, and screams, just in time.
The exhibit went on to win the women a Silver Gilt at last week's show - the second highest mark awarded by judges.
It was the first time in 24 years that a Kent team, made up from clubs across the county, including Maidstone and Wateringbury, was selected to represent the association at the show.
