Fly away slide

Five children were injured yesterday when an inflatable slide came loose in strong winds.

The youngsters were playing on the slide at the West Kent Garden and Leisure Show, held at Tonbridge Angels Football Ground.

Emergency services arrived at the stadium, in Darenth Avenue, Tonbridge, at about 12.30pm.

All five children were treated at the scene for minor injuries and shock. Three of them were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The air ambulance attended the but the youngsters were taken by the South East Coast Ambulance.

Kent Police attended and have referred the investigation to the Health and Safety Executive.

Tonbridge and Malling council are leading the investigation, supported by the HSE.

The event was held on Saturday and Sunday.
