Flytippers dump outbuilding in field

THE HUNT is on for criminals who dumped an entire outbuilding, complete with lavatory, in a farmer’s field.

The eyesore, discovered off Pike Fish Lane, Yalding, has prompted a call from Maidstone council for people to turn whistleblowers to help find the culprits.

It is believed the building had a flat roof and was possibly the lavatory for a public building, such as a sports club.

The huge pile of waste included mesh-covered windows and doors, a lavatory bowl and cistern, roof lining, insulation and assorted rubble. Adorning the rubbish was a sign saying: Now Please Wash Your Hands.

The fly tipping was discovered on September 13 and is believed to have happened the night before.

Cllr Tony Harwood, the council’s cabinet member for the environment, appealed for help in tracking down the “mindless criminals”.

He added: “They clearly have no regard for local residents, the countryside or the law. Somebody must recognised the building or know of a place where a building has been removed recently.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call the council’s environmental crime hotline on 01622 602202.
