Dione Mayfield

A former police inspector has been found guilty of drink driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Dione Mayfield, from Rainham, pleaded not guilty to the two offences. During her trial she admitted getting behind the wheel of her car while drunk, but insisted she was not driving when her vehicle hit another.

At Maidstone Magistrates' Court today district judge Michael Kelly found her guilty of both charges.

She was charged with driving her Ford Focus while her alcohol level was above the legal limit on September 25, 2009, in Bloors Lane, Rainham. She was recorded as having 103 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

She was also charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident on the same day in the same place.
