Every McDonald's drive-thru in Kent has reopened in a big boost for fast food lovers - with the Orpington branch the last in the county to resume trading after it reopened today.

It comes after seven pilot restaurants across the north of the county - including in Medway and Sittingbourne - welcomed back customers.

McDonald's has now reopened all its drive-thrus in Kent

The fast food giant has already resumed food deliveries at some branches, with the drive-thru and delivery bills capped at £25 per car or order.

Perspex screens have been installed and employees are wearing protective equipment.

In strict new measures, all employees have been asked to confirm they are fit and able to work, and the company is using contactless thermometers with temperatures taken on arrival at work for every shift.

Social distancing has been introduced in the kitchens and service areas.

The maximum spend in drive-thrus is capped at £25 per car and customers are encouraged to pay by contactless payment methods wherever possible.

A spokesperson for the company said: "Over the last fortnight, our employees, franchisees and suppliers have worked tirelessly to implement new procedures to enable safe working so that we can now help all parts of the UK and Ireland to enjoy the return of the Big Mac."

To manage the "anticipated demand", McDonald's has been releasing the locations of the reopening restaurants on the morning of each day.
