Near-the-knuckle humour and acerbic comedy are not the only shock when stand up Lee Ridley goes on stage.

The Geordie funnyman suffers from cerebral palsy and uses a communication aid to deliver his barrier-breaking laughs.

Better known as Lost Voice Guy, the 31-year-old has appeared on BBC Breakfast and now he has been booked for Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

“I’m not sure what people think when they see me come on stage but I’d like to think I help change their view of disabled people a bit by the time I walk off,” he said.

“I think people in general don’t expect disabled people to have a sense of humour or to do anything like this, so it probably does take them by surprise and that probably works to my advantage.”

Lee tops the bill at a fundraising show at Ashford’s St Mary’s Arts Centre in aid of Find A Voice. Support comes from Club Promise and Sarah Williams.
