Gillingham embark on a 700-mile round-trip to Carlisle this weekend and boss Mark Stimson believes there is no better place to break their away-day duck.

The Gills have picked up just four points from a possible 48 away from home all season and are still searching for their first win on their travels after 16 attempts in League 1.

A trip to the far north west of the country beckons on Saturday and Stimson wants the team bus to be ‘rocking’ all the way home.

Carlisle lost 4-1 at Hartlepool on Tuesday and could get dragged into the relegation scrap if Gills can claim maximum points.

Stimson said: "If you’re going to pick one then this is the place because it could be a good trip home.

"But we won’t get it if we think we’ve just got to turn up because they’ve been beaten on Tuesday.

"What we have to try and do is make sure the bus is rocking on the way back after putting in a good shift."

Stimson’s side were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Leyton Orient on Tuesday and the Gills boss may again make changes to his team.

"We have this competition for places and it keeps people on their toes," said Stimson.

"There were one or two that did okay but there are one or two who are waiting in the wings who may be given an opportunity."

Forward Dennis Oli will be vying for a starting place, possibly at the expense of Rene Howe, while winger Andy Barcham and attacking midfielder Curtis Weston will want the chance to prove their worth.
