Gillingham assistant manager Ian Hendon believed that Tuesday’s draw against Southend was a fair result.
Both teams had good chances but neither could convert and the game at Priestfield ended goalless.
Hendon (pictured) said: “Of course we are disappointed because we want to win our home games but it was a competitive game and at the end of it I thought a draw was a fair result.
“We had quite a few chances where they made last ditch tackles and clearances at one end and they had a couple towards the end, one where Lance made a great save and one where maybe their lad should have done better.
“It’s another game where we’ve not conceded a goal as well and you have to give credit to the back four because (Southend striker) Barry Corr is a difficult one to handle but the lads at the back have done great with him.”
Commenting on the first start for Bruce Inkango, Hendon said: “He did alright and he is going to be a typical winger. He’ll have spells where he does great and then spells where he is quiet. I don’t think he is quite up to speed yet and he hasn’t had too many 90 minutes and 60 minutes was enough.
“He showed a few glimpses but he has a lot more in the locker to offer.”
