Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler is pinning much of Gillingham’s hopes on his big summer signing Adebayo Akinfenwa (pictured).

He said: "We need to work hard, stick together and keep getting the ball up to the big fella.

"With him in the side we are going to score goals, without a doubt.

"He’s a winner and people can give him what they want from the stands and say things about his weight and stuff, but I’m not concerned by that.

"His performances have shown that he is going to be one of the fans’ favourites this season."
