Gillingham manager Martin Allen has warned Rotherham: ‘We’re ready and waiting’.

The Gills returned from Fleetwood with a point on Saturday night and now go head-to-head with fellow promotion chasers Rotherham on Monday.

Allen (pictured) said: "The job we had on Saturday was to leave with at least a point.

"We have a point in the bag, and now it’s for the biggest game and the best game (when) we take on Rotherham.

"They are big spenders with loads of expensive players, a well-paid squad and they have a few players that I tried to get into Priestfield but couldn’t afford,

"We are taking on a big team and everyone from the players, the staff and the manager (to) all the supporters that turn up on Monday, we will have to be right on our game on and off the field, because they are dangerous. We will be ready."

The Gills start the afternoon six points clear at the top of League 2. Rotherham are just outside the automatic promotion places but wins from their games in hand will put them right in the mix.

A big crowd is expected at Priestfield as the Gills look to do the double over Rotherham, having beat them 2-1 in December in a feisty game which left loan midfielder Romain Vincelot in hospital nursing a head injury.

Plenty is riding on the game but Allen isn’t getting caught up in the hype.

"We will prepare in exactly the same way," said Allen.

"They have had an extra 24 hours over us (since beating Wimbledon on Friday) but that won’t bother us. We will bring fresh players in for Monday’s game and we will go about our business as we do every game.

"We will concentrate on the way we play and how we play."
