Gillingham boss Mark Stimson has called on his players to stop relying on Simeon Jackson.

The 17-goal leading scorer, pictured, is the only player other than Chris Dickson, with one, to have scored for the Gills in their last 11 outings.

Stimson said: "We just need to get someone to help Jackson with the goals and (start) sharing it out.

"It would be nice if one or two others could pop up and get the goals but it’s the hardest thing in the game to put the ball into the net."

The Gills have tightened up defensively in recent weeks but going forward they have struggled. Stimson’s men have netted just six times since the turn of the year and the sight of Jackson limping out of Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Stockport was worrying.

"His hamstring tightened up so we got him off straight away," said Stimson.

"Hopefully it’s not too serious but we’ll wait and see."

Curtis Weston is Gillingham’s second top scorer, with eight, but he hasn’t scored since the start of December.

Stimson said: "It’s a concern because you want to score goals but then the next best is that you don’t concede. We have enough strikers and hopefully in the next couple of weeks someone will chip in with a few."
