Martin Allen will be seeking answers from his Gillingham players this week in a bid to halt the club’s worrying home form.

Defeat to Port Vale at Priestfield on Saturday saw the Gills knocked off the top of League 2 as they failed to win on home soil for the fourth game running.

The Gills’ last home win came almost two months ago – against Morecambe on November 17 – and those stats are in contrast to an impressive away record on a par with anything in the Football League.

Gillingham boss Allen, pictured, will be putting the issue high on his agenda when the players return to training today.

He said: "The home form does come into it. This team at home earlier in the season had been scoring three or four all the time, so we will have to work out a way how we are going to get better.

"We certainly are not going to shout at them. We have to work out a way of how they are going to play better at home, simple as that."

Defeat to Vale at the weekend followed impressive wins on the road at Bristol Rovers and Southend.

"We don’t want to be conceding goals here at Priestfield. Goals have gone in against us too easily and we have got some work to do," Allen added.
