Gillingham midfielder Chris Whelpdale a doubt for Exeter clash after failing to last 90 minutes against Plymouth

Midfielder Chris Whelpdale could be missing for Gillingham’s trip to Exeter on Tuesday.

The Gills head west for the first of three successive away games but Whelpdale, pictured, is a doubt after picking up an injury against Plymouth on Saturday.

Also doubtful is forward Myles Weston, who has missed the last two games with an ankle injury.

But better news is that Andy Frampton is back in training, following a head injury, and could be in the reckoning for the trip to face the play-off chasers.

Allen said: “Frampton comes back into the picture because he trained okay on Friday and had no headaches on Saturday. He is fine and raring to go.”

Whelpdale and Weston were due to be assessed on Monday but it is still too early for Charlie Allen (broken hand) to return.

Whoever is available, Allen is likely to make changes to the team which started against Plymouth.

Allen said: “There are a lot of good players that were sitting on the bench.”
