Andy Frampton must wait patiently for the all-clear from medical staff before resuming training after suffering from concussion at the weekend.

Gills boss Martin Allen revealed that the 33-year-old was knocked out cold on Saturday in the 2-1 win over Dagenham.

Frampton (pictured) was taken off and replaced by Deon Burton with 25 minutes of Saturday's match to go.

The player – who has started 11 of the last 12 games for the Gills –spent most of Saturday night in hospital after complaining of feeling ill once he returned home from the game.

Allen said: “He had sickness and our physio, God bless him, picked Andrew up from his house at 9pm and took him to an A&E. Our physio ended up getting back home at 3.30am and that is the type of commitment our staff have to all of our players.

“Thankfully Frammo is okay but he will now need to get the all-clear from the doctor on Thursday, before he can train again. That is why he had to come off the pitch (on Saturday) - he was sparked out.”

Striker Cody McDonald also picked up a knock in the match, but Allen said: “He is fine now.”
