Gillingham striker Dennis Oli in contention to return to squad for Accrington test

Dennis Oli is set to make a return for Gillingham at Accrington on Saturday as the club’s injury woes ease.

The possible return of Oli, pictured, is further boosted by news that John Nutter is also back in training while striker Mark McCammon has recovered from a virus.

Boss Andy Hessenthaler had as many as 10 players out at one stage but that figure is now more manageable with Simon King, Garry Richards, Dean Rance, Danny Jackman and Andy Barcham left nursing injuries.

Jackman and Barcham, both suffering with knee injuries, are expected back soon and could be fit for next weekend’s home clash with Stockport.

Assistant boss Ian Hendon will be preparing the team for a physical test as they face a side who have lost just once in the league.

"It’s not for the faint hearted," said Hendon, who was at Accrington’s Crown Ground last month to see them cruise to a 3-0 win over Lincoln.

"You need to be strong. They work their socks off up there and it’s going to be a tough game.

"We know what they are about and we’ll go and set our stall out."

Will Dennis Oli's return signal a change in Gillingham's fortunes? Have your say in our comments section below.
