Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has warned injured pair Josh Gowling and Curtis Weston that the route back into the first team might be tough.

Gowling (groin) and Weston (hip) both missed the trip to Hartlepool and the Gills boss was showing little sympathy.

Speaking on Tuesday night, Stimson (pictured) said: "He (Weston) said he wasn’t fit to play and we’ll see if he is fit on Saturday. It’s at home, isn’t it? He’s injured but we are all different, aren’t we?

"Josh said he was injured and had a groin strain so the physio has to take that on board."

The Gills earned a point at Hartlepool on Tuesday without the pair and Stimson may be reluctant to drop any players from that game.

He said: "They’ve got a great chance of keeping their places but we realise that those two players have got a lot of quality.

"But sometimes you have to make a mark and say when the going gets tough the tough get going and at Hartlepool it’s tough.

"We want players now that wherever we go, they are going to give whatever they’ve got."

Gillingham face Walsall at Priestfield on Saturday.
