AN 18-year-old girl was seriously injured when she was in collision with a van in Gillingham.

It is believed the girl was trying to cross the A2 London Road opposite the Tesco store at about 3.30am on Sunday morning.

She was struck by a white Fiat van being driven by a man in his late 20s, who is not from the Medway area.

The girl suffered serious head injuries and was left unconscious by the impact.
