Government gives approval for supermarket plan

A new supermarket for Medway City Estate has been given the go-ahead.

Sainsbury's has been told the government does not object to plans for a massive store to be built.

Medway Council gave their approval last month subject to the possibility the government would want to review the entire application.

Plans also include major road changes to improve traffic flow on Medway City Estate, in Strood, and better bus services including a park-and-ride scheme to Chatham, Rochester and Strood.
