A SHOTGUN has been found close to an illegal travellers’ site after a man claimed he had been shot at on the day before New Year’s Eve.

The gun, which was found in woodland close to the Sundridge Hill site at Cuxton, near Strood, was discovered after an alleged shooting incident in the early hours of Friday, December 30.

At the time, armed police officers swooped on the area. One man suffered minor injuries and three men were arrested.

A group of about 20 officers spent the day gathering evidence and the gun was discovered in a nearby wooded area.
