Hairdresser in dock over £53m heist

HAIRDRESSER Michael Demitris appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday charged with offences in connection with Britain's biggest cash robbery, the £53million Securitas heist last year.

The 31-year-old, of Ravenleigh Court, Bromley Common, was remanded to London's Old Bailey on November 13, when he will enter a plea.

He is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to kidnap and conspiracy to possess a firearm.

The raid on the cash depot in Vale Road, Tonbridge, took place in February last year. Seven men are currently on trial at the Old Bailey.
