A man suffered serious head injuries after being attacked with a hammer as he walked home through Cliftonville.

The 28-year-old was hit on the side of the head in Edgar Road between 10.15pm and 10.40pm on Thursday, June 5.

He reached the nearby Druids Centre where members of the public helped him and called an ambulance.

He was taken to the QEQM hospital in Margate before being transferred to a London hospital with what is believed to be a fractured skull.
