AN OLD Town Hall building went up in 15 feet of flames. The historic landmark in East Street, Bromley, was destroyed, left gutted and without a roof.

More than 40 firemen and six fire engines fought the fire from 6.50pm on Friday and emergency services were still at the scene well into Saturday afternoon.

The building, that in recent years has been used as offices, sits above Bairstow Eves estate agency and at the junction of East Street and West Street in Bromley town centre.

Simon Hillary from Bromley fire station, said: "The fire caused 80 per cent damage to the offices but no one was trapped or hurt in any way."
