A fire that ripped through a building at a Dover boarding school is not being treated as suspicious.

A large section of a boarding house at the Duke of York's Royal Military School in Dover Road was destroyed in the blaze on Friday morning.

Around 50 firefighters, including crews from Ashford, Dover, Deal, Canterbury, Hythe and New Romney, were called to the scene.

The blaze is believed to have started in the roof space of Marlborough House above dormitory accommodation and administration offices. No one was injured.

The operation was scaled back overnight following an assessment by structural engineers. Crews left the scene at 9am this morning (Saturday) - almost 24 hours after the fire broke out.

Investigators from Kent Fire and Rescue Service are now probing the cause of the fire.
