Injured Gillingham captain Barry Fuller takes step closer to recovery

Barry Fuller missed out on a return to former club Charlton on Saturday, but was involved in the pre-match warm-up with the rest of the squad.

The 25-year-old (pictured) injured Gillingham captain is recovering from a broken arm sustained against Leyton Orient last month, and boss Mark Stimson says he is progressing well.

Stimson said: "Barry obviously wanted to be part of things and the atmosphere.

"He is stepping up his running, but is still wearing a cast to protect the arm.

"He sees a specialist on Wednesday hopefully to have an even lighter one put on, and if that’s available he won’t be too far away.

"I think Barry had a mad couple of minutes reading something about using an oxygen chamber to help his recovery.

"We looked into it but it really wouldn’t have helped his injury that much so we are steering clear of that."
