Matthew Hingston, killed in an accident on the A21 on January 3, 2010

An inquest has been opened and adjourned into the death of Matthew Hingston - who died in an A21 crash earlier this month.

Mr Hingston, of Hither Green, London, was travelling northbound on January 3 in a silver BMW 320 when his car hit the crash barrier just before Morley's roundabout (near Sevenoaks). No other vehicle was involved.

The 37-year-old's family have paid tribute to the football fan. They said:"Matthew Hingston, a beloved son and brother, was tragically killed in a road traffic accident on Sunday January 3.

"Matthew grew up in Bexleyheath, but had close ties to the town of Battle, where his family now live.

"Matthew loved football and was a keen Arsenal supporter. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered."

Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the incident and would like to hear from anyone with any information or who may have seen the car before the crash. Officers can be contacted on 01622 798538.
