An investigation is underway after a man died on the railway line between Broadstairs and Dumpton Park stations on Thursday.

It is believed he was struck by a train travelling between the two stations, close to Ramsgate Road, at around 11am.

A police spokesman said: "The death is unexplained at this time. The coroner’s officer has been informed. The man has not been identified.

"The driver of the train has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital at Margate as a precaution.
