Is summer finally here for Kent?

If your preferred candidate didn't win today, console yourself with the news that summer may finally be here.

From Sunday the weather is expected to get decidedly warmer, and the Met Office says the beginning of next week could see the hottest day of the year so far.

Warm air from Europe is responsible for balmy conditions, which are set to last at least until the end of next week.

Kent could see temperatures of up to 22C on Monday, with the mercury staying in the high teens for much of the week.

The Met office forecast for the next few days says it will be "bright and mostly dry on Sunday, and feeling warmer.

"Monday, cloudy start clearing to long, very warm, sunny spells. Tuesday, sunny start but becoming breezy although still very warm."
